Who is this course for?

In this course, the student will explore the Pentamodal Method, which is the foundation of Structure & Function Education’s dry needling model.  In accordance with S&F’s overall inclusive philosophy, the Pentamodal Method shows the learner how it all fits together.

Needling is about much more than “sticking needles in muscles”.  Many structures are stimulated when we insert a filiform needle into the body, and we need to consider the local, segmental and systemic physiology every time we insert a needle into a patient.

In this course, Sue will explain how the Pentamodal Method takes into account treating not only the source of someone’s pain and dysfunction, but also the cause of that pain and dysfunction.  The Pentamodal Method gives the clinician a systematic way to approach their needling treatment, taking into account local, segmental and systemic considerations.

As a therapist…

Are you trying to improve your needling application in your clinical practice? Are you looking for a systematic approach to needling your patient population? Are you looking to better understand how to use needling beyond “needling muscles”?

Understanding and applying the Pentamodal Method will help you make better clinical decisions about the application of needling, thus improving patient outcomes.

Are you dealing with patients who experience pain and movement dysfunction?

Are you struggling with managing how to effectively and systematically dose your needling intervention for maximal results?

It can be difficult to interpret the scientific literature and apply it to your clinical practice. There is a plethora of information and science surrounding the clinical utility of needling for musculo-skeletal issues (MSK) and non-MSK issues alike. How do you take this sea of information and apply it to your practice, giving you a systematic approach to needling? We’ve got you covered.

Do you want to learn ways to improve your results with dry needling?

  • Understand a broader application for dry needling, beyond needling muscles
  • Learn how to address both the source and cause of someone’s pain and dysfunction with dry needling
  • Learn a comprehensive, systematic approach to dry needling for all types of patients

Learn about…

  • Local, segmental, and systemic approaches to dry needling
  • A systematic way to approach needling
  • How to address both the source and cause of your patient’s problem with dry needling
  • How needling directed toward fascia, peri-neural tissues, primary passive trigger points, local points and central spinal points can improve patient outcomes

This course is for you if you are you looking to…

Improve your understanding of a local approach to dry needling, Module 2 is for you.

Understand what Peri-neural needling is all about, Module 3 is for you.

Understand how dry needling affects fascia, Module 4 is for you.

Discover what Primary Passive Trigger Points are, and how addressing them can help your patient, Module 5 is for you.

Improve your knowledge on why we needle the spinal region for peripheral issues, Module 6 is for you.

Your instructor Sue will discuss…

  • Structure & Function Education’s proprietary Pentamodal Method approach to dry needling
  • How we can address both cause and source of a patient’s dysfunction with dry needling
  • How local, segmental, and systemic physiology is applied in the Pentamodal Method
  • How, in addition to local structures, we can direct our needling to fascia, primary passive trigger points, peri-neural tissues and centrally at the spine, in order to improve patient outcomes
