Who is Sue Falsone and What is Dry Needling?
[shaker_image]Dry needling, a blend of art and science, is done by a skilled physiotherapist who uses acupuncture needles to stimulate the muscles of the professional athlete. Sue Falsone, the creator and Chief Executive Officer of SFDN, developed a practical dry needling system that is called Structure and Function Dry Needling, which shares a name with her company. The system is characterized by a combination of skills Sue Falsone introduced and enhanced over several decades in the business. Sue Falsoneís experience includes stints as Head Athletic Coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers, a period where she served as the first woman to assume the role of Head Athletic Coach in all of the four major sports in America. Also, Sue Falsone worked as the Head Athletic Coach for the US Men’s National Soccer team.
Course Curriculum
The course wants to achieve the following:
- to better understand the surface anatomy of the patient regarding his well-being when handling acupuncture needles;
- to teach proper use of dry needling techniques in addressing commonplace sports-related pathologies;
- to be able to use intramuscular stimulation in treating everyday ortho pathologies; as well as learn various cupping techniques.
- to make certain the practitioner understands the contraindications and safeguards in in terms of dry needling;
- to master secure needle usage techniques, and avoid exposure to diseases transmitted by blood;
After the course is done, the practitioners will have perfected their newly found abilities, and will manage to use them to treat their athletes.
Course Information
The fee for the seminars is $1295, but one individual can take the class at no cost when their sports club or facility brings 10 other course participants. course participants should bring these things: an anatomy book (edition and author not specified), a Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation device, and alligator clamps. The staff supply the needles for all participants to use in class. SFDN has been approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC) to offer continuing education services to certified Athletic Trainers and is at this moment approving CEUs. CEUs are mandatory by those employed in different fields to retain their working licenses.
Continuing education classes approved by ProCert for Physical Therapists are currently offered here for 26 CEUs: St. Louis.
