What is Dry Needling and Who is Sue Falsone?
Using the technique of dry needling, an expert certified physical therapist uses his skill with dry needles to enter the dermis and stimulate the muscles of the athlete. Sue Falsone, the woman behind the company and CEO of Structure and Function Dry Needling, launched a practical dry needling approach called Structure and Function Dry Needling, which shares a name with her business. Throughout the decade in the industry, Sue Falsone gathered an incredible amount of expertise which she used to perfect her dry needling approach. Sue Falsone spent time working as Head Athletic Trainer for the LA Dodgers organization, a period where she worked as the first female Head Athletic Coach in all of the four most important sports in the US. Also, she served as the Head Athletic Trainer for the American Men’s National Soccer team.
Curriculum
The course wants to allow the health care professional:
- to be able to handle dry needles in a safe manner, and adhere to official health rules and guidelines;
- to better understand the surface anatomy of the patient in regards to his safety when using needles;
- to successfully utilize intramuscular stimulation when curing various ortho and sports-related pathologies; and to become proficient in the use of vacuum therapy techniques.
- to point out to the health professional the contraindications and precautions for using said technique;
- to teach proper use of dry needling techniques in addressing common orthopedic and sports-related injuries;
After the course is done, the practitioners will be able to use their newly learned skills, and will be able to successfully use them while working on their athletes.
Information About Our Classes
[shaker_image]The price for the events is $1295, but one individual can take the class at no charge when their department or facility brings 10 other students. They recommend that students take a couple of specific things along with them to the seminar: a TENS unit (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation), alligator clips, and a human anatomy book. The staff will provide the needles for all participants to have throughout the course. As well as being in the process of approving CEUs (Continuing Education Units) for their future courses, SFDN is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education services to accredited Athletic Trainers. In some professions, Continuing Education Units are required for to keep on working in their field.
Continuing education activities approved by ProCert for Physical Therapists are presently offered here for twenty-six CEUs: Mobile, Alabama. Further, National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA BOC) (P10069) offers the way to earn twenty-five Continuing Education Units, Arizona Physical Therapy Association two and a half Continuing Education Units, and Georgia Physical Therapy Association 25 Continuing Education Units.
