Karen M. Slota | Physical Therapist near Royal Oak, MI | BS, DC

Dr. Karen Slota is a native of Iowa. She attended the University of Alaska in Anchorage and began her studies toward her Bachelor of Science. She went on to receive her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa. Dr. Slota has been in practice in Michigan since 1999 operating two locations in the Metro Detroit area. She is also the chiropractor for the Detroit Lions and the first and only female chiropractor in the NFL.

Her first-hand experience with the trauma of athletic injuries and her innate desire to address the root causes of problems, rather than treating symptoms, have led her to become an early adopter of state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment modalities. Dr. Slota started her quest as one of the first certified Active Release Techniques (ART) providers in Michigan. Since then, she has brought Shockwave, Laser Therapy, Functional Dry Needling (FDN) and cup therapy to her practice. And, with certification in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Dr. Slota is uniquely equipped to identify primary issues and apply the appropriate interventions to meet the individual needs of each patient.

Dr. Slota strongly feels that providing a better understanding of soft tissue injuries, their causes, and the means to their resolution, is a crucial part of reducing the severity of injuries, accelerating recovery time, and – most importantly – keeping people in their game.
