“We are thrilled Cullen has accepted our offer to become the next Director of Sports Medicine at Flagler College,” said Erlacher. “Out of an impressive field of candidates, Cullen emerged as an incredibly talented sports medicine professional with great leadership qualities and tremendous passion for his craft. His strategic vision for the future of our sports medicine department is exciting and puts the well-being of our student-athletes first. His previous experience in a NCAA D2 setting is impressive and it will certainly allow for a seamless transition to Flagler. We look forward to the positive and immediate impact Cullen will have on our athletics program.”
Fridley has spent the past six years as the head athletic trainer at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla. He was responsible for the planning, development and application of the Sports Medicine Department to all student-athletes at Missouri S&T.
He supervised the transition of the Sports Medicine Department from Athletics to the Student Health Department in 2013. This transition was the first in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and has now set the standard on how the Sports Medicine Department appears and functions in collegiate athletics. During his tenure at S&T, Fridley has led the effort in expanding the sports medicine team and, most recently, was awarded for best clinical practices by the American College Health Association for S&T’s concussion management program. He has been involved in countless hours of hands on treatment and directed vital tasks, which include budgeting, ordering and inventory of supplies, drug testing, staff education and retention, and various other administrative duties within our department. He worked directly with the Miner volleyball and baseball programs while supervising all Miner sports.
Prior to his time at Missouri S&T, Fridley worked at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi from 2009-11. He spent two years as a post-graduate assistant athletic trainer with the Healthy Campus Community Initiative while working towards his doctorate degree in education. Fridley also served as an assistant trainer at Berry College in Mt. Berry, Georgia. He worked with the men’s soccer and men’s basketball programs.
The Panama City, Florida native received his bachelor’s from the University of West Florida and then went on to earn his master’s from Delta State, where he is working towards his doctorate.
