About: Emma Spisak is a Massachusetts native and a 2015 graduate of Boston University, where she earned a B.S. in Athletic Training. Following her undergraduate degree, Spisak completed her M.S. in Athletic Training in 2017 at the University of Kentucky, and then returned to Boston for a one-year Athletic Training Residency in Orthopedics & Diagnostics at BU. There, she coordinated care for the women’s rugby, women’s rowing, men’s soccer, and men’s and women’s track and field teams, while also completing a rigorous didactic curriculum.
Spisak joined the Sports Medicine team at UNC in 2018 as the Head Athletic Trainer for Sport Clubs. She coordinates care for Sports Clubs, and serves as a liaison between Campus Health and Campus Recreation. Spisak’s clinical interests include evaluation and diagnosis of the lumbopelvic and hip regions, muscle physiology and rehabilitation, and manual therapy techniques. She is trained in dry needling and has lectured at regional conferences on therapeutic cupping.
Spisak has been a licensed athletic trainer since 2015. She currently resides in Durham with her husband, Brent.
