I just posted an article (or sent it to my web guys..should be up in a day or two) on needle diameter to the general website but wanted to point it out here.
They looked at 3 different needle sizes (up to .9mm…that is like a harpoon!) and found all 3 needle sizes were effective but the larger diameter was more “effective”…pain scores and health survey.
They discuss using such a thick needle, and the lack of willingness for patients to accept a second treatment with that size diameter. I would be apprehensive for treatment #1!
It is a great read across the board. Have a look at it and will be interested in your thoughts. But general evidence for using a thicker needle (even if that means .3 vs .25) vs a thinner needle…keeping in mind safety (#1 ALWAYS) patient comfort, tolerance and willingness to accept treatment stay at the forefront of our tool choice selection.
