Has anyone experienced a bent needle after e-stim? Have been dry needling since taking the Foundations course in October 2016 in Annapolis, MD. I have applied the lumbar procedure to multiple clients with and without e-stim at 4pps or 100pps without overt aberrations. Today, I used 1 inch needles and connected e-stim at 4pps, 1.0 mA, x 10 mins at the each L5 level. No unusual force noted during insertion, but when I removed the right L3 and L4 there was about 20 degree bend in each needle. Seemed to bend inferiorly. There was no bend in the right L5 needle. No unusual extraction force was felt. This would be the 6th treatment treatment for this client starting with 2 inch needles and used 100pps or 4pps. The client had no bleeding for this episode. Seirin brand needles were used with 0.30 diameter. Any ideas on how the bend occurred? Thanks, Jeff

Bending of the needle is not uncommon especially after estim or if the patient contracts during insertion. Nothing to worry about!
